A range of activities will be taking place leading up to the UN Oceans Conference.  This timeline of events and the links to provide more information to these may help you chart your course and plan your journey.

2017  Navigating towards the UN Ocean Conference
15 February The Ocean Registry for Voluntary Commitments opens 
UN calls for commitments to safeguard the world’s oceans ahead of first major conference
15 - 16 February UN Oceans Conference Preparatory Meeting
(Co-Facilitators Permanent Representatives of Portugal and Singapore)
01 March Zero-draft of “Call for Action” to be made available as per the Ocean Conference website https://oceanconference.un.org/about – “A draft will be presented by the co-facilitators no later than March 2017.”
13 – 14 March Pacific Ocean Alliance Workshop on an international legally binding instrument on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ) hosted in Fiji
15 March “Clean Pacific, Clean Seas” side event co-hosted by SPREP and UN Environment at the Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for UN Ocean Conference hosted in Fiji. 
15 – 17  March  Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for UN Ocean Conference hosted in Fiji
21 – 24 March Pacific Partnership on Ocean Acidification Project community inception workshop for Tokelau, hosted in Samoa.
31 March Deadline for all side event submissions at the UN Oceans Conference, to be made
4 – 6 April Whales in a Changing Ocean Conference hosted by SPREP, Auckland Institute of Studies and the Kingdom of Tonga 
15 April Deadline for submissions for exhibitions at the UN Ocean Conference under the theme: “Save our Ocean”
27 April Our Oceans, Our Future – One day training for NUS Media and Journalism Students, Apia, Samoa
30 April Negotiations on “Call to Action” scheduled to conclude as per The Ocean Conference website
02 May World Tuna Day! 
22 May World Biodiversity Day! 
5 - 9 June UN Oceans Conference, UNHQ, New York
08 June World Ocean Day!
09 June The Oceans Registry for Voluntary Commitments closes
