Fiji's foreign ministry seeks media assistance in climate change
Fiji's Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Climate Change Unit has sought the assistance of the media to educate Fijians on climate change issues. At a two-day media climate change workshop, Permanent Secretary, Amena Yauvoli, said the Fijian Government had developed a National Climate Change Policy.
"We need the media because it speaks the language best understood by the people. It can breathe zeal and life into our policies and help us tell of the many stories and experiences about climate change our people confront on a daily basis." Amena Yauvoli, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fiji.
The workshop took place on 13 and 14 March and was supported by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) under the media outreach programme.

Climate change resources and information were provided by SPREP as well as a night of hosting the Fiji media to thank them for their role in sharing awareness on climate change.
SPREP's Communications and Outreach Adviser Ms. Seema Deo made a presentation to the participants on the role of SPREP and regional climate change initiatives.
