The Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion at the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP25) is digitally accessible to all, with the launching of a mobile app and website this week.
Now available for download from Google Play or the Apple App Store, the Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion enables all users to stay informed of daily events, information and updates with a touch of their fingertips.
A key highlight of the app is that it allows Pacific islanders not in Madrid at COP25, to be part of the global conversation affecting the Pacific Islands. Features of the app include watching panel presentations made at the Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion on livestream, interacting with other app users and receiving updates on activities happening at the pavilion.
"The Pacific Pavilion App at COP24 was an innovative and extremely useful tool for me because it provided timely side event updates, a platform that allowed feedback to the event organisers and a virtual place for Pacific islanders to get connected,” said Mr Nitish Narayan who used the app at COP24.
“We announced our side events on the app which attracted huge attendance. Simply awesome"
The app also has information and contact details for the pavilion team, and a great interactive news feed for sharing and posting information about side events and happenings on the pavilion and at COP25.
Ms Rima Moeka’a, who also attended COP24 as part of the Cook Island Delegation, said she enjoyed the liveliness of the app and how there were fun activities and giveaways each day which drew crowds to the Pavilion.
In addition, the app also provided Ms Moeka’a with access to side event presentations.
“It was very useful for me to be able download the presentations of speakers at side events that I attended, as well as having the option to downloaded presentations and notes on those I wasn’t able to attend due to ongoing negotiations. The app made the side events more accessible for me as a negotiator.”

About the Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion
The pavilion is a Pacific partnership supported by New Zealand with Fiji. It is managed by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).
The pavilion will support the Pacific’s call for ambitious global action by all by providing a space for collaboration, and involving stakeholders from the Pacific. There will also be an important exchange of dialogue and stories of national resilience and planning; and showcasing of the challenges and opportunities of the most vulnerable areas in the Pacific.
The Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion will open throughout the whole duration of COP25, from 2 – 13 December.
