Island and Ocean Ecosystems
The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme's (SPREP) Protect Pacific Whales Facebook competition is ready to move on to the next stage – voting!
The competition, which is being run in partnership with Digicel Samoa, called for residents of SPREP's island member countries and territories to submit entries of artwork inspired by the Pacific whales, to raise awareness for whale and ocean conservation.
"We are really excited by this and hope that people cast their votes by clicking the like button for the person whose artwork they like best," said Ms. Domitille Le Huede who has been working on the Protect Pacific Whales Campaign with SPREP.
"We have the voting polls open for two weeks and are calling upon all to show their support by visiting our Facebook Page and clicking the 'like' button!"
The cut-off date for competition entries was 22 June, with voting to commence once the entries have been finalised by the SPREP team, who are going through the process of making sure each entrant meets the terms and conditions of entry, and that the artwork submitted is their own original work.
The voting will close on 16 July, after which the winner will be awarded an Alcatel Pixi 3 smartphone, compliments of Digicel Samoa, as well as other fantastic prizes.
The artworks received from the competition will be used by SPREP for educational and awareness purposes for the duration of its Protect Pacific Whales – Ocean Voyagers campaign.
