Title: Global Partnership on Marine Litter

The luncheon side event will provide an overview of global and regional initiatives and an opportunity for discussions on priority areas for action in the Pacific Region.
The Global Partnership of Marine Litter (GPML) is a multi-stakeholder partnership that provides a unique mechanism for bringing together all relevant actors working on marine litter to share knowledge and experience and to advance solutions to this pressing global issue. The massive open online course that was organised together with the Open University in the Netherlands and the Clean Seas Campaign are among the partnership activities. The latter has been joined by the following countries in the Pacific Region: Kiribati and Vanuatu.

Title: Launching of the Pacific SWM Guidebook and Poster exhibition
Cocktail event hosted by JICA and JPRISM II
The “Practical Guide to Solid Waste Management in Pacific Island Countries and Territories” is a compilation of good practices developed and identified in Pacific island countries. Contributors to this Guidebook are officers of the various countries in the Pacific and are trainers during J-PRISM Phase I. The Guidebook is based on their own good practices and experiences. This launching is to express an appreciation to all the contributors and to widely disseminate the Guidebook to the waste management community in the Pacific.
