Fukuoka in the Pacific: improving landfill in the Pacific

Since Tafaigata dumpsite was opened in 1992, open dumping of solid waste has been posing environmental risks in the area around the dumpsite. The existence of scavengers at the dumpsite has been a hot issue. Open burning is also sometime observed generating hazardous gas into the environment. This video follows the rubbish to its destination and examines the bad effects of open dumping. It also highlights the Semi aerobic landfill project and the upgrade of the Tafaigata facility and its management to an acceptable level of a sanitary landfill
