SPREP-Tok - September, 2017

This month, we hosted what was to be the last annual SPREP meeting of officials in Apia, and the first meeting under the new SPREP Strategic Plan 2017–2026. The SPREP meeting will henceforth be a biannual event which will be hosted in Apia. Some of the more notable outcomes from this year’s SPREP meeting was the proposal to ban the importation of microbeads, which can be found in most household and cosmetic products and is a common pollutant, into the Pacific.
