Tourist attractions, protected areas, National Parks and so on are said to be forms of land use which many in the public an private sector believe are important for a variety of reasons. Some of these are economic, political, socia, heritage, genetic preservation and watershed management need, etc. Landowners, however, may view such moves as alienation of their land or rights and resist such moves, even though it may be for their own or national benefit. Governments often attempt to incorporate the wishes of landowners. Do they succeed? Or is it a generally subtle imposition? Is there really suffcient consultation and agreement?
