Everyone has a right to clean air. However, in this world of modernisation, this right is now in jeopardy with a growing number of incinerators established throughout the world. In the US alone, a million pounds of hazardous waste is produced every year. As a result, incinerating companies are emerging in almost every state. In 1984, the US Congress required permits for all Hazardous Waste Incinerators. The Environmental Protection Agency admits that the smokes are harmful to humans and in 1989, EPA was to make recommendations on 90 applications. There was strong public disappointment however with the EPA. People suspected that they were business oriented and therefore lack speed on action against improper incinerating strategies. Whilst these incinerating companies continue to launder money into community activities in the hope of calming down opposition, everyone in the world as a whole will have to continue to bear the cost of breathing unclean air now, and even worse, in the not too distant future.
