The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and motivated person for the role of Project Manager – Pacific Islands Greenhouse Gas Abatement through Renewable Energy Project (PMPIGGAREP). The Project Manager will lead the Mitigation activities of the climate change programme through managing the implementation of the PIGGAREP, promoting low carbon developments and strengthening the capacity of SPREP in Clean Development Mechanisms, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory and monitoring in accordance with the UNDP Project Document (including the GEF Full Size Project Brief) and UNDP's POPP.

Applicants should have at a minimum a Masters Degree in engineering, energy, environmental management or other field relevant to the project or the equivalent in a relevant discipline with at least seven (7) years relevant experience in the Pacific Islands region and preferably in an environment related field (or Bachelor degree in lieu, with applied relevant work experience in excess of the minimum required relevant work experience).

The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package including a base salary in the range of SDR30,638 to SDR45,958 which is currently equivalent to SAT$115,089 (USD$47,557) to SAT$172,637 (USD$71,338)per annum as well as a Cost-of-Living Differential Allowance (COLDA), housing & education allowances, medical benefits, life & personal accident insurance, etc.

Global Environment Facility - Project Facilitator (GEF-PF)

The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and motivated person for the role of Global Environment Facility Project Facilitator (GEFPF). The GEFPF will assist with the operation of the GEF Invasives Project and Biodiversity Project, particularly to assist SPREP and participating countries in complying with UNEP and GEF reporting requirements, and to facilitate the operation of the projects.  

Applicants should have at a minimum a Bachelor Degree in a relevant environmental field with at least five (5) years relevant experience of managing complex projects, preferably in the Pacific region and in a role requiring a similar degree of versatility and responsibility, including technical and financial reporting on an internationally-funded project with regional scope. A relevant postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.

The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package. Remuneration for this post falls within Band 10 of SPREP’s salary scale and will be in the range of SDR25,597 to SDR38,395. Currently, the equivalent in Samoan Tala is SAT$96,409 (USD$40,851) to SAT$144,611 (USD$61,276) per annum. This person will be a member of the SPREP Executive Management team and will provide strategic leadership and management to the Island Ecosystems Programme.

Applicants should have at a minimum qualification of a Masters Degree in Environmental Management / Development or related discipline with at least ten (10) years high level experience in environmental management/ development work as a senior technical professional preferably in, but not limited to the Pacific region, with at least 7 of those years in senior management and leadership roles 

The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package. Remuneration for this post falls within Band 14 of SPREP’s salary scale and will be in the range of SDR47,299 to SDR70,949. This person will focus mainly on expanding the PI-GOOS programme by identifying and securing additional funds, leading strategic programme development, and coordinating and managing the full range of activities expected of the PIGOOS programme.   

Applicants should have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor degree in the field of Science, including marine and oceanography or related field with at least 5 years relevant experience specifically in dealing with marine environmental issues, at least 2 of those years working in a developing country and preferably within the public sector.

 

The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package. Remuneration for this post falls within Band 10 of SPREP’s salary scale and will be in the range of SDR25,597 to SDR38,395.
