Description

PacWaste Plus is to address the cost effective and sustainable management of waste and pollution, as well as the broader impacts, such as human health and well being, climate change, disaster management, biodiversity conservation and resource recovery.
Priority waste streams to be targeted are: hazardous wastes (specifically asbestos, E-waste and healthcare waste), solid wastes (specifically recyclables, organic waste, disaster waste and bulky waste) and related aspects of wastewater.

Objective

The overall objective of PacWaste Plus is to generate improved economic, social, health and environmental benefits for PACP states arising from stronger regional economic integration and the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment.

The specific objective is to ensure the safe and sustainable management of waste with due regard for the conservation of biodiversity, health and wellbeing of Pacific island communities and climate change mitigation and adaptation requirements.
